Methodology

  • Data smoothed using a 7-day moving average algorithm.
  • Daily new cases (per million) represents new cases per day per million of the total population in the country. This takes into account case density which we believe is more representative in comparing the severity of the outbreaks across countries. The variable is represented on the left-hand axis.
  • Daily new deaths (per million) represents new deaths per day per million of the total population in the country. The variable is represented on the right-hand axis.
